When a bike accident left me (Carl, founder) with a wrist injury, holding a traditional lead became painful. I faced a choice: stop walking my dog Romeo, or engineer something better.
Using my engineering background, I created the City Leash—a hands-free solution that eliminates wrist strain entirely. Fully adjustable to wear across your body or around your waist, with ergonomic traffic grips for close control when you need it—all designed to distribute weight properly, not destroy your hands.
What started as a solution to my own wrist pain turned into a whole new world I never expected. It quickly became clear this wasn't just useful for people like me, it made urban dog walking easier for everyone.

We started off in a small workshop in Dublin and we're still here manufacturing every single piece until we can afford a trusted manufacturer.
We prioritize durable materials that last years, not months. And when something does wear out, we offer repairs because the most sustainable product is one you don't have to replace.
We're not perfect, but we're transparent about our choices and committed to doing better.

I love the swivel element and the comfort of having the strap around my body. I have two very energetic terrier mixes that cross each other and pull excitedly when they smell something interesting so holding the lead and unraveling them became tiresome. This duel swivel lead from Madra solves all those problems. Plus it's made of very sturdy material so 100% love it! 5 stars!

I bought the matching lead for George’s new harness and it is the best quality lead I have come across. It is very comfortable to hold and extremely secure with added locking feature. I have been looking a really good quality harness since I got George in 2024 and spent so much money buying different ones. I came across Madra on Instagram and thought about buying one if only to add to the collection and I am so glad I did. The quality is unreal, very secure and it’s still lightweight and breathable for him. Very easy to put on and he’s happy out on his walks. I really wanted to like this harness because it looks great, but unfortunately, it hasn't worked out. Poor Durability: After only a week or two of use, the material is already fraying where two sections meet due to friction. It clearly won't last long. Uncomfortable Fit: The design doesn't suit my Whippet's build. No matter how I adjust the straps, it's either too loose or, when tightened, a plastic buckle sits right behind his front leg joint and rubs uncomfortably against him. It’s a stylish harness, but the poor durability and awkward fit mean I can’t recommend it.

Really like the hands free traffic grip leash. Very strong and well made. I have a new rescue dog who loves to pull so this is helping. Carl was so accommodating when I was buying it too, great customer service. Will defo be getting more stuff in the future.

Absolutely has taken a lot of stress out of my dog walks! I have a strong jack Russell puller and a chill Chihuahua. Got the hands free city leash for the JRT. First couple of walks, I would say we had about 75% calming on his pulling! A much easier walk all round. I can only see it getting better too! Definitely recommend

I have a new rescue who is learning to be on a lead and also is quite reactive but the comfort I have with this lead is making our walks so so much easier
Easy to get on our girl. Straps easy to adjust to her size. Our lead fitted perfectly with the harness and she is easier to control without any pressure to her neck.
